This morning I found a picture of the new missionaries going into Jen's mission. There are 26 of them. Their Mission President and his wife are in the middle.
Then I came home from work and found the following letter from her:
Hello, I am excited to be serving
the Lord in Fairborn, OH. There are 3 sets of missionaries just in our ward: 2
sets of Elders and my companion and I. My companion's name is Sister Johnson
from West Valley, UT. She has been out for almost 14 months now. I love having
her as a companion and trainer!
My address is 2373 Roseanne Ct.
Fairborn, OH 45324. My p-days are on Mondays! We live fairly close to the Air
Force Base out here!
The weather out here has been
crazy!! One minute it will be sunny and clear, and the next it will be super
windy and rainy. I am lucky and feel bad for one of the sets of Elders in our
area that have to ride bikes! I am grateful to be in a car!!
I hope all is going well and enjoy
getting letters and packages from people!!
I had a SUPER scary experience on my
first full day out in the field!!!! We went and talked to an inactive family
and that was okay. As we were leaving their house, their neighbor called us
over to his house. I know that as soon as he started talking to us that we
needed to get out of that situation, but my companion and I were afraid that if
we tried to walk away he would start chasing after us!!
So, we tried to listen to what he
was saying, but he just kept screaming at us about the Church. He started
cursing at us and tried to tell us that we were being brainwashed. He then
started to call us "Satanists" and used other vulgar language. He was
talking about Warren Jeffs and all the things that he did. Finally after about
5 minutes of us, he asked us "HOW CAN YOU BELIEVE SUCH CRAP (he used
another word)??!!!" My companion stated simply, and BOLDLY: "You have
your beliefs and we have ours." We then started walking away and he just
kept on cursing and yelling at us!! IT WAS SO SCARY!!! I HAD NEVER FELT THE
SPIRIT FARTHER AWAY THEN AT THAT TIME!!!
We have been teaching a few
investigators, but mainly we have been meeting the ward members. I love meeting
them and they are awesome people!!
We had a lady that is in the
military call us and give us a referral. She just moved from Fairborn to Hawaii
a few months ago, but one of her friends is interested in learning more!
I love and miss everyone!
Lots of Love,
Sister Jennifer Rose
